We recently engaged this team for our pest control needs. Adam provided an extensive overview of his services and quoted a vastly more competitive rate. After two service calls we're not only impressed by Adam's expertise but the level of service is absolutely astonishing (we're from New York and that's not easily done). They deserve 10 stars and should be everyone's choice for pest care.

Rodent Control in Palmetto, FL — Small City, Big Rodent Pressure
Palmetto Exterminator handles rodent problems in this area — we know which neighborhoods have the most roof rat activity, where construction gaps let them in, and which tree canopy corridors they travel. Local route density means faster trapping and faster exclusion.
Rodents contaminate food, gnaw wiring, and leave droppings everywhere they travel. Palmetto Exterminator provides rodent extermination — trapping, exclusion, and sanitation. We work to remove the rodents inside your home and seal the entry points to reduce the chance they return.
Palmetto packs a surprising amount of rodent diversity into a small footprint. The city sits where the Manatee River meets Tampa Bay, with Snead Island’s dense canopy to the west, agricultural land to the east, and housing stock ranging from 1920s downtown bungalows to modern condominiums at Riviera Dunes. Each environment drives a different rodent species. Palmetto Exterminator services Palmetto regularly and builds the treatment around the specific pressures on each property.
Snead Island Canopy and Roof Rats
Snead Island is the epicenter of roof-rat activity in Palmetto. The island’s mature live-oak canopy, cabbage palms, and dense tropical vegetation create an unbroken overhead highway that roof rats use to travel from tree to tree and onto residential rooflines. Homes on Snead Island — particularly along Riverview Boulevard and the streets off Snead Island Road — see some of the most persistent roof-rat pressure in Manatee County.
The entry points on Snead Island properties are typical of canopy-dense environments: ridge-cap gaps, soffit vents with missing screens, unsealed AC lineset penetrations, and gable vents where the mesh has rusted or pulled away. Tree limbs within six feet of the roofline give rats a direct jump path.
Roof-rat pressure extends east across the US-41 bridge into mainland Palmetto. The oaks and palms along 10th Avenue West, 8th Avenue West, and the streets near Palmetto Historical Park provide enough canopy to sustain roof-rat movement into the neighborhoods between the river and US-41.
Manatee Riverfront and Norway Rats
Norway rats hold the ground level along Palmetto’s Manatee River waterfront. They burrow in the banks, under the seawall near Sutton Park and Riverside Park, and along the marina edges at Riviera Dunes. Norway rats prefer ground-level harborage and enter structures through garage-door gaps, foundation-level utility penetrations, and openings around ground-floor plumbing.
The riverfront restaurants and commercial spaces along US-41 generate food-waste concentration that sustains Norway-rat populations close to residential streets. Dumpsters and grease traps pull rats from the riverbank into the commercial zone and then into adjacent neighborhoods.
Terra Ceia and Agricultural Margins
Terra Ceia and the agricultural land south and east of Palmetto support different rodent populations than the canopy and waterfront zones. Citrus operations, plant nurseries, and row-crop fields harbor field mice (cotton rats and house mice) and Norway rats in irrigation infrastructure, fence lines, and vegetation debris. Homes adjacent to this agricultural land — particularly along Terra Ceia Bay and the roads south of US-19 — see ground-level rodent pressure that arrives from the fields.
When agricultural parcels are mowed, harvested, or cleared, the disruption pushes field rodents toward the nearest standing structure. Homeowners along the agricultural margin sometimes see a sudden spike in garage and crawl-space activity that corresponds directly with farming operations on adjacent land.
Downtown Palmetto and Older Homes
The core of downtown Palmetto — roughly the blocks between 6th Street West and the river — contains housing stock from the early and mid-twentieth century. These homes were built with wood-frame construction, pier-and-beam or crawl-space foundations, and rooflines that have settled over decades. Crawl-space access is one of the most common entry points: foundation vents with missing screens, gaps where sill plates have shifted, and unsealed plumbing penetrations through the floor.
Manufactured-home communities in the Palmetto area face similar crawl-space challenges. Skirting panels that are damaged or improperly secured give rodents direct access to the underfloor space, and from there they enter the living area through plumbing openings and gaps around utility penetrations.
How Palmetto Exterminator Handles Palmetto Rodent Work
Full inspection. We check the attic for droppings, grease rubs, gnaw marks, and nesting material. We walk the full exterior, inspect crawl spaces and pier foundations, and assess lot-level conditions — canopy contact, riverfront proximity, and adjacent agricultural land use.
Exclusion. Every documented entry point gets sealed with galvanized steel mesh, copper wool, and exterior-grade silicone. On crawl-space homes, we repair or replace foundation-vent screens and seal floor penetrations from below. On manufactured homes, we address skirting gaps and underfloor access points.
Trapping. Snap traps in the attic along confirmed runways for roof rats. Ground-level traps and exterior bait stations for properties with Norway-rat or field-mouse activity along the river or agricultural margins.
Sanitation. Attic cleanout and insulation replacement for properties where droppings, urine, and nesting material have accumulated to the point of creating health risk or attracting new rodents.
Palmetto Needs a Multi-Zone Approach
Snead Island canopy, Manatee River waterfront, Terra Ceia agriculture, and downtown crawl-space homes are four distinct rodent environments inside one small city. Palmetto Exterminator adjusts the plan for each. Call for a rodent inspection (the fee is credited toward remediation work within 14 days) and we will document every entry point and build the exclusion plan around your property.

Questions We Hear Every Day
Quick answers from our SWFL pest pros.
I don't see any pests — do I still need pest control?
Fair question. In Southwest Florida, by the time you spot a roach in the kitchen or ghost ants on the counter, there's usually a colony somewhere you can't see. Our humidity, rainy season, and slab-on-grade homes keep pests active all 12 months.
What a quarterly visit does:
- Renews the exterior treatment before sun and rain wear it down
- Catches entry points — weep holes, soffit gaps, slab cracks — before anything moves in
- Covers you between visits: on a recurring plan, if covered pests show up, we come back free
If you're pest-free right now, that's the easiest time to start. We're maintaining, not chasing.
Why are ongoing treatments necessary instead of just an initial one?
Because Florida has no off-season. Warm, wet weather keeps ants, roaches, and spiders active year-round, and exterior treatments wear down in the sun and rain. Recurring visits renew that protection, catch new entry points, and adjust to what's active each season — ghost ants in the rainy months, rodents moving indoors in the cooler ones. The first service knocks the population down. Recurring visits keep it down.
Is it necessary for me to be at home during pest and lawn services?
For your first pest control visit, yes. We walk the property with you, look at problem spots, and treat inside. After that, most pest visits are exterior, so you don't need to be home; if a visit includes interior work, we'll set a time with you. Lawn service happens outdoors, so you don't need to be home for any lawn visit. Either way, you get a digital service report with photos when we're done.
Why hire a professional when I can do it myself?
You can handle a lot yourself: seal gaps, fix leaks, pull mulch back from the foundation. A pro earns the fee in the parts that are easy to get wrong. That means identifying the exact species (ghost ants and fire ants need opposite approaches), choosing products that won't scatter a colony, and getting into attics and soffits. On a recurring plan, we also come back free if pests return. Store-bought repellent sprays often push ants and roaches deeper into the walls instead of ending the problem.
What are these tiny bugs in my pantry?
Usually one of three: Indian meal moths (small moths, plus webbing in grain or cereal), rice weevils (tiny beetles with a snout, in rice and pasta), or flour beetles (small reddish-brown beetles in flour and baking mixes). Throw out infested food, vacuum the shelves, and move dry goods into sealed containers. If they keep coming back after a thorough clean-out, call us and we'll track down the source.
Why do you treat both the inside and outside of my home?
The first visit covers both: we treat what's active indoors and set up protection outside. After that, recurring visits focus on the exterior — the perimeter, eaves, and entry points — because that's where most Florida pests come from. If you need an inside treatment between visits, we'll come back for that too, free on a recurring plan.
What happens if I'm still seeing pests after my first treatment?
That's normal for the first week or two. The treatment disturbs hidden nests and flushes pests into the open before it takes full effect, so you may see more before you see fewer. If activity hasn't dropped after about two weeks, call us. On a recurring plan, the re-treat is free.
